Things must do in Singapore: Kinki

Last calendar week I was invited along to a Japanese eating seat called Kinki at Collyer Quay to test some of their dishes.  My showtime thoughts were, I've non eaten much Japanese nutrient as well as I don't genuinely know much close what goes with what and secondly they consume a lot of seafood as well as I'm non a huge seafood fan.  The offering though was also tempting non to become along.  I reminded myself how much seafood I've tried since I've been inward Singapore as well as how I've genuinely enjoyed it as well as that perhaps I've really been missing out.

I postulate non direct hold worried close going to Kinki though, the nutrient may last Japanese inward influence but it has a hit of creative dishes and I was pleasantly surprised as well as impressed yesteryear all the ones I had.  The eating seat itself is very modern inward its look as well as experience with a funky hip-urban decor to it.  One of the showtime things that hits y'all when y'all brand it is a mural on the floor designed yesteryear Chris Garver who appeared inward Miami Ink (photo below).  The restaurant is also laid inward a fabulous place with spectacular views across to the Marina Bay Sands, waterfront and surrounding area.

I was lucky plenty to test a multifariousness of the dishes available on the carte which stand upward for the decor inward beingness fun, creative as well as accessible.  The carte uses ingredients as well as cooking techniques which compliment Japanese cuisine but with a modern twist to them.  The eating seat also imports rare as well as seasonal ingredients from Nihon to ensure top character nutrient is served.  I was able to test the next dishes;

Momotaro Tomato

This was a delicious starter which is described every bit featuring a Japanese love apple tree known for its sweetness as well as is served with a ginger dressing.  Personally I think this dish is absolutely perfect for the hot humid climate of Singapore as the contrast of the 2 ingredients makes this very refreshing.

Foie Gras and Scallop Sushi

This dish was 1 I was a picayune hesitant close earlier I tried it but my concerns were groundless.  It was delicious, beautifully prepared as well as I'd definitely consume it in 1 lawsuit to a greater extent than without hesitation.

Buta Sushi

This is pork belly served sushi trend which was absolutely delicious.  It was as well as hence tender that every bit presently every bit I picked it upward with my chopsticks it cruel apart but in 1 lawsuit to a greater extent than was beautifully prepared. Marvellous!

Pomegranate Miso Black Cod

This is considered one of Kinki's signature dishes as well as inward keeping with the restaurant's theme has been given a twist on the traditional household dish.  The cod is served inward a particular pomegranate as well as dearest miso to give an extra tanginess to the dish inward contrast to the cod.  Again this was one I was a little hesitant about, although cod is a fish I'll happily eat, but every bit with the other dishes it was perfect as well as melted inward my mouth.  Definitely 1 to try.

Jidori Chicken Teriyaki (from the laid tiffin menu)

This was a delicious dish of chicken with rice and included with it a side salad, miso soup and a mochi ball.  This dish lonely would last to a greater extent than than plenty to satisfy y'all if y'all were looking for somewhere to lunch.  I'd never tried mochi ball's earlier which is a sweet with a marshmallow similar texture, covered inward sesame seeds as well as with a peanut flavour sauce within it.  It was real tasty though as well as was a pleasant halt to the meal.

I also sampled the next cocktails;

Geisha Sake-Rita

This was a twist on the traditional Margarita cocktail incorporating yuzu sake into the mix amongst tequila, orangish liqueur, passion fruit syrup and orangish juice.  Demonstrating again the modern twist the eating seat is aiming for with the inclusion of Japanese sake every bit well.

Ume Mojito

The mojito contained rum, umeshu, sugarcane juice, lime, mint as well as raw carbohydrate as well as was excellent.  The eating seat has a fully stocked bar every bit good as an extensive cocktail list.  If y'all similar your cocktails I'd definitely recommend y'all give the restaurant's a try.  Kinki also has a hit of sakes for nutrient pairing or to sample alone.

Japan Quake Relief

Moving away from the food, final week Kinki also launched a hit of express edition trade inward back upward of the relief effort at a special event held final Fri (29 Apr 2011) evening.  You tin give the axe though even as well as hence buy from the eating seat especially designed items such every bit badges (small: S$3 large: S$5), purse hangers S$10 as well as t-shirts S$25.  The trade bears pictures of the restaurant's mascot, sumo turned chef Kinki as well as other express edition designs (as below).  All items are printed with the 'Support Japan' logo and are available at the eating seat whilst stocks final with proceeds going to the Singapore Red Cross Society.

So become at that spot test the nutrient as well as back upward the quake relief at the same time!

Bag Hangers

I cannot mistake the dishes I was served and the decor as well as ambiance of the eating seat genuinely made this a dandy house to dine.  I personally intend this is definitely a restaurant to come upward to whether y'all are an aficionado of Japanese cuisine or, similar me, non certain but looking to test something new.  Come convey a expect as well as try for yourselves!
