Pulau Ubin - Best Place to Travel

say thanks to titi for me good morning. welcome to another episode of singapore today-we're-not-fishing. i've got hermann with me we're going camping

Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin, a few of the other guys will be joining us later they'll be sailing over, around the far end of ubin we'll be going through ubin today that's rain

there's definitely some serious erosion going on here the last time i was here there were at least a few trees over here sticking up out of the water then a bit of fallen trees over here yea it's definitely going this is where they service the bumboats not sure if all of them are here but i think most of them (are)

wow. look at that that's going to give way sooner or later imagine how many fish are here though so despite arriving at watercross late and launching late i think we are still too early holy cow that's a lot of people where's your line ah bro?

everywhere? ok. (lol) it's ok bro i can. i can go around yea. can't. can't too low yea gotta wait a while we're waiting right now for the tide to turn because it's too low, we can't cross underneath (do you think i can go through with my propel drive?)

(can ah) steady la (wailing) why? why? (that was very painful indeed) we're probably gonna get stuck in front but that's alright at least we're through it feels to me, at least, like

we've made it already i think these are dog prints but i'm not sure interesting looking roots we just went through that it's extremely shallow there we had to cut a few of the roots break a few of the roots down still dragging as you can see he's basically lopsided already

extremely shallow so that fallen branch is actually a good thing we can stand on it alright - woo! - (nice!) you can see everything is filthy now i had to stand in the mud as well to pull my kayak out

you can hear the rain coming alamak this fella i never bring la sia in front you have to hand paddle so... adventure there we go that's how much we've been digging into the mud it looks like it's gonna rain the whole day

can't really see here but it's gray out. it's pretty gray this raincoat is not as waterproof as it used to be so now we've reached the main crossing or actually the final crossing at low tide you go by here at high tide you go by here you can go by the right as well

fendy and i went by the right side the first time we came because we totally missed this opening look at all those fallen trees look at this one man there used to be a bank down here small bank we're approaching nordin beach now current is getting pretty strong

it's pretty strong actually i'm curious to see if we arrive before the other guys who are sailing yup we definitely arrived before the sailors so this is where we park our kayaks we usually anchor out here we walk out or pull our kayaks out so that it goes there then we just let it swing around over there

it's important not to block the main passage though because there's a guy there who has a shop (he) sells drinks and stuff he regularly uses this path to bring his boat in and out to bring people in and out so it's important not to obstruct him so i just got this stove as well supposed to be windproof it does use a lot of gas though

try it out yea. pretty windproof to me so hermann is getting the inaugural cookoff whoa i expected that! let's pump it up a bit ooo ok let's bump it down. bump it down!

can i take video of your....? thanks this is what we call a camp man look at that he cut down the bamboo to skewer the chicken so it's all made here. bushcrafting man nice to see it took forever to boil. still not boiling actually but, oh well

today i'm having this testing it out alfredo with garlic and herbs just for kicks, putting this in as well so maybe that's why it took so long to boil running out of gas now that's what i call a boil so now comes the tea finally the sailors have arrived

(failed chandler bing impersonation) could they be any slower? (failed chandler bing impersonation) any slower at all??? that's a massive craft! my goodness. that thing is massive we had one extra person, don't know who he was now we have another again, so (that's) a total of 6 plus hermann and me so it's 8 omar bought 4kg is chicken and 3kg of lamb

so even with 8 people... might be a bit of a stretch. might be. there's my itty bitty kayak bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. my goodness, look at that one massive see how much steam is coming out of this piece of wood that's how wet it is on the outside at least

the inside is quite dry how many torchlights shining on this thing one there, one here where's your sunglasses? there was supposed to be 2 extra people there are 3 now brings it up to 11 guess it's a good thing because then we have more people to finish

the 48 eggs that some of the guys brought - bro. (have some) - thanks. no worries - (have some) - no no. thanks thanks thanks. no worries those were from my chair last night all these little holes are from my chair it's a nice chair but it does tend to dig itself into the sand

no he want to compare la see now he's telling his son "this one is so big. cannot la" ah now he's pointing "ah see the front is so far way. cannot la" doesn't seem to be as fast as the original msr one i think it's because there are no holes at the side oooo. it's hot. no holes at the side but it's good that it doesn't need an extra windshield

but it's still quite big compared to my old one and we're out of mamam beach exactly at 12 o'clock actually, as planned the guys there are still getting ready to set off, those with the sails we'll be heading back in to the mangrove trail if you could call it that with the current from the back we're barely peddling and we're heading about 6kph already

this is where we got stuck yesterday this is where we got stuck as well everywhere actually all around here
